As seen on Channel Ten – Volunteers wanted for acupuncture research on hot flushes

 

The University of Melbourne, in collaboration with Jean Hailes for Women’s Health, Monash University, RMIT University and Southern Cross University, is looking for volunteers for an National Health and Medical Research Council -funded Australian study on acupuncture for postmenopausal hot flushes. This will be the largest placebo-controlled study on acupuncture for hot flushes to date.

Volunteers must be over 40, post-menopausal (12 months past the last menstrual period), have not had acupuncture in the past two years, have not had a hysterectomy or removal of ovaries, and not currently on HRT. They must be able to attend for ten sessions of acupuncture (which will be either real or placebo acupuncture) over eight weeks.

Treatments are provided by experienced practitioners across Melbourne (CBD, St Kilda, Coburg, Malvern, Mt Waverley, Bentleigh, Rosanna, Bundoora, Ringwood) as well as in Melton, Mornington and Echuca, and in Ballina and Byron Bay (NSW) and Southport on the Gold Coast in QLD.
